Prague Architecture – Trifot robot
Lets speak about Prague architecture for a second and in particular the 3 legged monster-robot in Prague.
The design was made by David Černý. In case you were wondering this is not the only permanent art installation created by the controversial sculptor but is the latest and most fascinating.
Added to the Nove Butovice neighborhood it has nearby the Trifot restaurant (which I am with my wife very very frequent clients). Totally recommend it for any occasion.
Anyway the Robot has a series of different size and color eyes fitted with a movement sensor and cameras.
That means every time someone passes by the eyes will be automatically directed at that person and what is scary is whatever the robot sees it is displayed on street screens which surround the huge installation. Crazy right? Oh by the way that is day and night (it even has night-vision) so no more sneaking around at 10PM with your girlfriend and think nobody knows 🙂
Near the Robot there is as well Czech Photo Centre, which has monthly artist expositions and it is a very nice place to be. You can take a glass of wine and enjoy the pictures from lots of artists.
This zone by the way is totally redesigned thanks to Trigema (building developer) so whatever you see now one year ago didn’t exist. Thank you 🙂
Another picture from different angle below.
Also from David Cerny there can be seen near theater Lucerna in Prague, the Statue of St. Wenceslas riding a dead horse.
Not sure what that means but it is fun to see.
You’ve heard for sure of the famous neurologist and the founder of psychoanalysis Sigmund Freud. Well, there is a sculpture of him as well (still in Prague 🙂 )
where he id basically hanging with one hand from a rooftop (picture below)
The best of the best is for sure the giant head of 42 layers of Franz Kafka in the middle of Prague City center.
If you have enough patience you can wait and see how the metal shiny head is transformed and retransformed in all 4 cardinal directions.
There are lots of youtube movies showing what I mean but for sure in reality is the most impressive.
