Despite the fact that these records are understood by Guinness, they’re not understood by the free diving community which don’t permit the breathing of pure oxygen. In the year 2007, German engineering pupil Tom Sietas set a global record by keeping the breath for fifteen minutes and 2 seconds. His secret is to quickly for five hours before the effort to get his metabolic process down.

He then respired bottled oxygen for 20 minutes prior to plunging into a tank in New York. He also holds the record for keeping his breath without bottled oxygen at 9 minutes and 8 seconds. Thirty year-old Sietas seemingly has lungs 20 percent bigger than the norm for somebody his size.
