Many rational feminists use these very same stats to recruit men, as they should. Sexism hurts us all. Toxic masculinity that tells men to put themselves in harms way for the sake of women does not represent equality.

The fact is that most men in these fields believe women cannot do it and should not do it. They are wrong on both accounts.

What is the hard, naked truth? That people want good jobs? THE HORROR!

Same could be said about white men complaining about immigrants taking their jobs. Don’t hear too many white men complaining about fruit picking jobs, hotel cleaning jobs, and taxi driver jobs being lost to immigrants.

Are we being brigaded or is this sub just that fucking stupid?

Women used to work in the mines in the victorian era uk. Like the men they wore trousers where possivle because skirts killed them by catching on machinery. They sometimes stripped underground as did the men due to the heat. Tey were actually banned from working underground by the government as it was unladylike.

I’m confused about what you want. Do you want women to break into shitty traditionally male jobs? Are you upset that more women choose to not fight for the position of sewer cleaner and just pick some other shitty job? You realize that folks are looking for better jobs, not shitty jobs, right? The type of woman to go fight their way into a male dominated field rarely picks a shitty field to fight their way into. I’m not sure why this surprises you.

Equality in shitty jobs is certainly something to think about. There just isn’t much incentive for anyone to fight for it. I personally think we would be a better society if half our grade school teachers were male, and half our maintenance technicians were female. It’s harder to turn another gender/race/religion into some amorphous entirety that you need to fight if you work with them every day. If you don’t deal with a group of people often, it’s easy to turn it, well, like you. You appear to just actually have women as an entire group and can’t imagine one as your equal. That isn’t healthy.

The problem is that there is little incentive to draw people into these shitty fields. For blandly pragmatic reasons, the bulk of the effort is put into prestige jobs that have a lot of power. A woman switching from being a teacher to being a low level technician isn’t going to improve her outcomes, it is just going from a comfortable job there the pay is low, to another where the pay is similar but has a strong boy’s club culture. Switching from being a teacher to an engineer will produce better outcomes, which is why we tend to focus on jobs that bring an improvement and increase the equality of outcomes over ones that bring about an equality of gender participation in undesirable fields.

That said, I strongly suspect that you don’t care all that much. I think you just literally don’t like women and see them as zero sum competition that improves their lot at your expense. That’s kind of sad. Women are fantastic. You should get to know some.

I’m seeing a lot of “this meme is shit” comments, but few that actually explain WHY they think it’s shit.

I get it, this meme wasn’t really well thought-out, but if you’re going to complain about its shittiness, at least say why it’s shitty, rather that just putting more shit on the existing pile of shit.

As far as my opinion on this meme goes, I don’t there should be any FORCED equality in the workplace, (forcing employers to employ more people) but I believe that it’s pretty absurd that some women complain about lack of “equality,” despite being in a first-world country where they do have equal rights.

I don’t like the whole “DAE WOMEN DON’T DO TOUGH MEN JOBS???” circlejerk, however I won’t defend the people who support forced “equality” in the workplace. It should be up to the employer, not the government.

Pushing for equality in all these fields is important, the only thing we’re against in general is using the government to force private businesses into it. The first three examples you gave are either government jobs or government sponsored in one way or another. If you are going to steal money from everyone to pay for these jobs, then they can not be allowed to discriminate because they’ve taken away our buying power.

People should be allowed to discriminate all they want regarding who they hire and who they serve; the government shouldn’t even be involved. If a school or daycare or what have you wants to hire a large number of women so be it. If a black barber wants to refuse service to a white supremacist, so be it.

Though I do find this meme stupid and not really related to this sub. I found the following situation funny and slightly relevant to this, I work for a construction general contractor as a field manager in Texas. About 90% (if not more) of our workforce is of Hispanic descent. Well during the “Day Without Immigrants” day there was not a single worker who skipped work that day. I had multiple guys come up to me and laugh about how stupid it all was and why would they skip work and miss out on the work hours. Just my two cents on my personal experiences.

They did joke that they were going to leave my project to go build the wall after Trump won though. I asked if they could take me with him, government jobs are easy money.

I’m a libertarian and I think the image is ridiculous. If women were fighting to get into the industries mentioned in the first 3 frames, there *would* be public outrage. But women are *not* fighting to get those jobs. Women and men both equally want to get office jobs in air-conditioned rooms so any perceived lack of equality will be met with outrage.
