Yeah its been weeks of on again off again smoke in Vernon. I ended up going to a hydroponic store and getting a 6inch carbon filter and fan. I set it up in the middle of my place running 24/7 now, It stopped the constant headaches.

    It could be worse though,

Seriously though, not fun to lose all your worldly possessions in a couple hours because some prick chucked his cigarette or whatever the fuck. Almost lost everything in the 03 fires. Actually lost everything in this one.

It hasn’t rained in 3 weeks, temperatures haven’t been below 32C-37C for three weeks (except for two days), and the only relief from direct sunlight is when the smoke blocks the sun a little.

It’s so bad a compost pile caught fire in town today all on its own.

I know its said every year, but BC is going to burn this year. I think the best we can hope for is that nobody gets hurt.

This is all pretty crazy considering I live in northern BC and we’ve had rain for the last week.

    Blue skies in keremeos!?

Time to go there and breathe the slightly better air quality then we have here in Kamloops!

Probably been the worst year I’ve seen for smoke.

My Mum has a farm that’s in the Cariboo, just a little outside of Quesnel. Fire is just a few kilometers away and we have 87 goats we cannot move.

She bought the farm just a few weeks ago. This epitomizes my family’s timing.

I wish for the best all over BC right now. It’s getting worse every year…

    Legit true story:

    Monday July 17, 2017

    Am on flight

    Vancouver to Calgary

    Spicyish food for dinner

Major (re: uncomfortable af) buildup of fart in the plane

I held it until landing and in the airport

Good I didn’t let it go over BC

Saved a new fire from occurring

Maybe they’re not joking. Methane contributes to global warming. Global warming causes increases in the intensity and frequency of forest fires. Stop shitting your pants, guys!

Very nearly got evacuated during the 2015 fires. The smoke was so thick you couldn’t see 20ft ahead of you.

Couldn’t even see the surrounding mountains in Nelson the smoke was so bad today.

And that was from a small fire about 30km away.

It seriously bothers me that our local firefighters are still attending grass fires from thrown cigarettes and people lighting campfires – my home, my possessions and maybe my life all depend on good people staying one step ahead of a bunch of fucking idiots. We’re all at the mercy of morons.

I don’t know the answer really. Education is always good, but when people don’t get ticketed severely for throwing their butts around ten months a year can we really expect them to change their habits in the summer? We need to set the tone all year.

We had a couple of decent days in the South Okanagan, but today the air was smoky again. So many fires going on and the wind is not helping.

We had drought conditions in Nova Scotia last year (with campfire bans to accompany them) but it doesn’t get anywhere near as hot here. Good luck to the residents of BC, I can’t imagine what it’s like there!

There was a fire right by my house this last weekend. I was told we were lucky, apparently a water bomber was flying by going North to deal with some fires and saw our fire. Since we were right on the water, he was able to take a detour and help really efficiently to just refill->dump a few times before he had to go back on track and head north.

I’d hope that our fire departments would have been able to handle it, the fire got to a couple acres when the water bomber showed up. But I am so very grateful his timing was so perfect, just in case it went to worse.

As one of the evacuees from Williams Lake, this gave me a much needed laugh. It’s amazing how many people are still trying to light fires what with, yknow, half the province being on fire. Saw one guy trying to light one in the campground we were staying in. People are stupid.
