People don’t seem to realize this is a win/win.

Playerunknown gets to make a live example to 20k+ people what happens when you grief. He can then ride the controversy to continue to spread the message intended.

Doc gets a massive donation and resub wave of ‘support’ from his fans.

Just move on people, neither are upset, they are just making a show of it intentionally.

Alot of people is giving them shit for banning doc but im happy to see grimmz telling people that teamkilling was against the rules.

Not sure why people are so surprised. He clearly broke a rule, on stream, in front of like 30k viewers. Would have set a terrible example if he wasn’t banned.

Just institute a button for someone TK’d that asks if you want to kill them in retaliation.

No exceptions, even for streamers. Props to the devs for making the right choice.

As much as I love Doc, it was well deserved. I know he’s doing it for the luls and for his stream but come on man. Imagine playing a game for 15 minutes only to get blasted by a teammate for no reason. It was a dick move and I applaud PU and crew for doing something.

It’s the right call. I’m a huge fan of the Doc, but he had to see it coming. It was funny, but wrong.

PLOT TWIST: It was all planned to raise awareness of the new TK rule. Also the Dr had to take a few days off anyways. Kappa

Absolutely the right move. I love Dr D but if you’re caught being a dick you should expect to be punished. I say this all on the assumption that the ban is short. Anything long or permanent would be simply disproportionate.

What’s really the problem here is that

    1. practically no players know rules exist, or where to find them and

    2. there’s no way to punish in-game. Give players that ability and it changes things considerably.

    July 18, 2017 at 4:11 pm

I am willing to bet this is a temp ban. But for how long?

  14. moeykaner

    July 18, 2017 at 4:11 pm

As soon as we get 2d and 3d demo function we are easily able to record proves of teamkilling and report the teamkillers. i am looking forward to it. Keep the community clean and respectful.

Pretty pathetic that the viewers are defending the Doc and saying “fuck playerunknown” for enforcing his rules. It’s also hilarious how they are gonna still play his game hours on end.

  16. onlysubscriptions

    July 18, 2017 at 4:11 pm

More like, if we have video evidence of you team killing, then you’ll get banned.

  17. MobiWanKenobi

    July 18, 2017 at 4:11 pm

What’s funny about this is that it wasn’t even against the rules until a couple of days ago. I reported lots of people only to be told that team killing isn’t against the rules.

I’m glad they are banning people for it, i just hope they keep up being this strict for ALL reports, not just famous players/streamers.

  18. kirsion

    July 18, 2017 at 4:11 pm

Lol all the subs in doc’s chat are bashing playunknown for doing the right thing.

  19. GammaGames

    July 18, 2017 at 4:11 pm

Honestly I think it should be a temp ban. Yes it was an asshole thing for Doc to do, but a temp ban would still show that nobody is above the law while still giving warning.

  20. kneilin

    July 18, 2017 at 4:11 pm

Out of curiosity when me and my friends know we’re gonna die or just need to leave before a game ends we typically just fuck around and kill each other before leaving, to get banned is it required that we are reported?

  21. markmore679

    July 18, 2017 at 4:11 pm

Just got teamkilled recently after being a fairly decent player (gave away some items and killed enemies). It really sucks and makes you feel like shit; they should make an effective system that doesn’t require video evidence asap.

I feel like there should be an ingame automatic punishment for deliberate teamkilling just like in any other big team game where teamkilling is possible.

  28. seanbeag

    July 18, 2017 at 4:11 pm

For those wondering why team killing should be taken seriously, it’s about maintaining the appeal and viability of the auto matchmaking system and keeping the competitive level in squad games higher for longer.

If you are an experienced player and have had to deal with team mates killing you for your loot then you are going to be less likely to play as that extra man. Three man squads will be more common as it gets harder to find that extra man. Or worse, three man squads will get teamed with progressively worse players as the good players stop queuing.

So why is this important to the games future? It’s fair to say that the most competitive team will be a four man pre-made group. A three man pre-made with a good outsider will be next. Then a three man on their own. So if you cannot find a good player you are automatically going to have an struggle competing for the win. Eventually this will get tiring and the number of three man groups queuing will gradually reduce.

The spiral goes on but I think you get the picture. So why is it important that a popular streamer be seen to be punished for breaking this rule? It’s about stamping out the behaviour before it becomes acceptable. If you have streamers broadcasting shitty behaviour as acceptable, their viewers will start doing it too. It’s inevitable. The larger a problem gets the harder it is to stamp out, especially a rule that requires a level of intent that can be difficult to prove if you do not have evidence.

At the moment it is an relatively easy job to record your games and submit footage but as the game moves towards console release this will become much harder. If this kind of behaviour has not been tackled and become taboo before console release it’s going to become almost impossible to enforce it on a large scale.

I don’t watch this particular streamer myself but i doubt he can have any complaints about being banned for so overtly breaking the rules.

  29. TemptedTemplar

    July 18, 2017 at 4:11 pm

Does it still count if the player disconnected? I have a friend with terrible internet and he can drop without any warning mid game. is it wrong for me to cap him and share his loot with the rest of the squad?

    [Tweet](https://twitter.com/BattleRoyaleMod/status/887236858551259137)

So i guess it’s a 2 or 3 day temporary ban for the Doc.

  31. DeLamp

    July 18, 2017 at 4:11 pm

I guess I must be in the minority when I say…

Guy’s. It’s a fucking game. This particular incident has not affected any of you in any way. All half of the people on here are doing is getting outraged over something that literally is no big deal to anyone. I don’t understand how people can get so angry and worked up over this. Yeah, this streamer is clearly not a nice guy and a slap on the wrist is the right way to go, but some of you are making such a mountain out of this and it doesn’t matter at all.

  32. fitprogrammer

    July 18, 2017 at 4:11 pm

The people defending Doc on twitter is pathetic. People claiming they need the rules listed in the game. Like you need a sign written in crayon that says not to intentionally kill your own teammates.

  33. zanaan01

    July 18, 2017 at 4:11 pm

Alright. Lets be honest here. Everyone imagine if the roles were reversed. Would the fanboys be upset at a random who TKd the doc getting banned? Or would they be cheering the fact? Stop letting your bias towards the Doc change how you see this.

  34. mindlessnerd

    July 18, 2017 at 4:11 pm

He was actually in the room watching at the time as well. Good to see equivocal punishment, I just hope they make the reporting system a bit more cogent and easy to access.

  35. TaoMoragi

    July 18, 2017 at 4:11 pm

Now after a bit of drama-watching i just hope that both sides will learn from this.
    1. The ban was justified, it will be a temp-ban, so no real damage done, Doc wont stream with his main-account or at all for 1-3 days, but got tons of promotion from all this.
    2. PlayerUnknown is, as we all can see and agree (i guess), new to all this. He is not an experienced CEO, his tweets show that, he needs to get more professional in such matters, no “LUL” or “i will use the twittersalt to season my chickendinner”.
Just do you what you have to do, include a link to the rules, leave it at that and go inside to wait out the shitstorm.

All in all i thinks its a good thing, alot will be learned from it and the “damage” will be minimal or non-existent.

So have a nice day/night folks.

    How do you report?
I always match with a squad and lately 1 out of 5 games I get team killed so they can take my loot.

    July 18, 2017 at 4:11 pm

Holy crap. All those idiots who think the Doc shouldnt get a ban because of ONE teamkill.

Rules are fucking rules…everyone has to deal with them.
It’s like those people would say “oh hey this one guy is famous, why should he go into fail just because he commited ONE criminal act!”

God damn..some people think just because someone is famous or a streamer, those people could ignore the rules. Are they serious? How stupid can some people be?
