I’ve seen this before in a car trunk. The owner used it to put arround [butane canisters](http://i.imgur.com/GeyKM89.jpg) so it wouldn’t roll arround in the trunk.

I know I have seen one of these before and I can’t for the life of me remember what it is for. I do know it has absolutely nothing to do with bras or sandwiches.

It reminds me of a set of wheel chocks, flip the triangles open side down and points together, the strap goes over the wheel to keep them in place. I can’t imagine what kind of wheel it would be for though, so I’m fairly sure I’m off.

This is what I can figure from them.

The join of the band is on the inside of one of the shells, so it’s likely that the shells are placed open side down, so as not to be seen.
The way the band is set, it looks like it wraps around something small and the shells go on either side of it.
The shells have flat openings, so not meant to wrap around something rounded.
The shells are thick enough to support some weight or pressure from the outside, but not enough to hold something heavy, like a person.

So this would attach to something like a chair or box. As to the purpose, I’m not sure. Maybe a wedge of some kind.

They could be chocks for some basically cylindrical item. Maybe a water carboy or canister of some sort? [Here](http://www.piplers.co.uk/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/800×470/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/l/i/liferaft_chocks.jpg) is something similar.

Hey my mom is a care aide and she says its for essentially holding someones legs together kind of. If that makes sense? She’s taking care of someone right now who’s got them but hers are foam.

Edit: [found a link](http://www.epc-wheelchairs.co.uk/cushions-backrests/jay-2-inch-adductor-wedges) to something similar. These ones are velcro instead of elastic bands but essentially they make the seat concave so your legs stay in line with your body when you’re sitting in a wheelchair.

Maybe something like [this](https://imgur.com/a/X8vzG) ? To help keep legs stabilized?

I suspect it is actually for sitting on. Perhaps to keep some one in place on a shower seat or to keep you from sliding out the sides of a wheelchair.
I have no specific knowledge, but the plastic is that curious shade that one only sees when they give you something to take home from the hospital.

They’re chocks for handicapped people. To keep them from falling off a bench, like in a shower.

Try sliding the elastic over the back of a chair, with the narrow ends facing so that it makes a back support. Don’t know the name.

I think this is a lid or corner caps to something else and the straps are used to keep it on. Look for another object in the house that that is semi portable where the ends need protection during movement.

Looking at the fifth photo I think that’s the orientation. Like maybe it slides over something to create a brace. Like maybe she had a knee replacement and this slid over a bracing board to create a support for her thigh?

    Edit: spelling

(total guess) Well, it’s not a bra… but a container for bullet bras so they don’t get crumpled in your luggage?

I wonder if it could stretch over a mattress? Maybe a device to prevent someone from rolling out of bed?

Can we get a pic of it laid flat? Like, with the narrow ends together?

Could be placed to keep a rocking chair from rocking, kind of like wheels chocks.

For use with the elderly who might be caught off guard if they grabbed the chair for support and it rocked away from them.

Is there something around that is square-ish with handles? These could cover the handles to protect them when it’s being moved?

I just got sad. I know my grandma would have known what they are since I remember them in her house. She’s dead though.

Wheel wedges to hold a wheelchair in place maybe?

  23. planet_rose

The wheel chock idea has me thinking that it is to keep things from rolling around during transport. The plastic’s appearance reminds me of those useless accessories from refrigerators, but then why the elastic? I wonder if it a potluck accessory for Tupperware or Pyrex. A rounded bottom serving dish with a lid that could be held on with the elastic strap while resting on top of the curved supports so that it doesn’t move/spill.

Alternatively it could be a strap that holds the lid on for a slow cooker and the triangles fit over the handles.

Unrelated, but I remember those placemats from my childhood. I can almost smell it in the picture.

I wonder if this thing was to protect and carry a pair of high-heeled shoes.

Exercise equipment? Looks to me like you put your heels into it and then bring your legs out and back together using the elastic as resistance.

It is placed around the cylindrical section of things like propane tanks to keep them from rolling around when they are being stored or transported on there side. The elastic band in the picture needs to be flipped around so it goes around on the non open side of the wedges.

Seeing as they fit the description of so many aid/medical devices it could have been designed to act as knee spreaders, lumbar support, head stabilizer, and many other things.

It’s a case to keep your triangle sandwiches fresh.
The strap is simply there so you can look dashing while carrying your lunch.

I’m not sure how study they are, but they kinda look like wheel chocks. You put them on either side of a tire to keep it from rolling when parked for a long period of time, and they’re attached so you don’t loose one.

  31. TheMellophonist

    July 19, 2017 at 6:47 am

I think they are tire blocks to stop your wheeled whatever from reversing.
