This is why Harry isn’t a Ravenclaw.

He didn’t believe in himself or see any redeeming qualities within himself at this point in his life. Once he is at Hogwarts he gains confidence, has friends, and probably got to actually try ‘sports’ for the first time where he wasn’t picked on. He believed in himself as a Seeker and knew others believed in his abilities and depended on him, just like when he was defending Neville to first go after his Remembrall, he never questioned if he could get it because he knew he had to. Back at the Dursley’s he never thought highly of himself, not even enough to believe he really bad a chance to get a letter before Vernon snatched them, or him away.

    Das my theory 😶

I gave up a long time ago trying to give a logical explanation for the stuff they do in the movies. I don’t think the directors went much further than ‘that would look cool’, no matter if it made sense.

What you are experiencing here is called flocking, a strategy used by flying letters to escape capture. By forming a flock, the hunters attention is diverted as there always seems to be a better letter to catch. Starlings for example have copied this behavior from the flying letters to evade falcons and other birds of prey.

Everyone always forget, this was before quidditch. He didn’t know he was good at catching things yet. Duddley always hit him, he didnt throw rememberalls on the first day of flying class. Geez… /s

My wife just went through almost 30 hours of labor and we had a Harry Potter marathon waiting for our little guy to come. I mentioned this when it came on, looked at my wife and said. “Isn’t he the youngest seeker like ever?” “Why doesn’t he grabbed a bunch of those instead of just one?”

They need to explain the whole wizards celebrating Christmas thing also because I’m confused now. Was Jesus a wizard ? That would make alot of sense if you think about it.

Harry isn’t a protagonist until the final book. Until the, it a friend or a teacher that plays the role of the protagonist. Harry lets things happen to him. He lets the letter fall to him just like everything else in his life.

The thing that always bothered me was why he didn’t hide the original letter in his cupboard before going into the kitchen? Would have saved a lot of hassle.

Theatre…whole scene probably lasted just a few seconds in the book but was played out in the movies because it was like those old cash in a box with a fan contest prizes.

Letters/paper also move a lot differently than balls.

It’s like when you turn a corner in a FPS only to come face to face with their entire squad, and instead of picking them off one by one you shoot between them because you averaged where you should shoot.
