I was told by my coworker that I’d find the right one for me when she would actually not hate the music I listened to. And I told him this LPT as a rebuttal. But judging by the fact that I’m still single, he may have been right.

My ex **hated** 21 Pilots. So, every time I listen to their music now, it feel like I’m spitting on his face. They’ve become my new favorite band.

    My ex loves Nickelback.

    And there you have it.

Or practically every song on the radio will remind you of them. Retail stores would suck. Now, if they had worse taste in music than pop, that would be extraordinary and you should keep those people in your life because they are truly avant garde.

/s (bad… drunken on my birthday lol)

This fails immediately in case you think that (most) popular music is shitty.

This works so well for my marriage. I live and breath death metal and shes pretty much top 40. i always offer to take her to shows and she declines.

I did drag her kicking and screaming to Iron maiden and she loved it. I’m slowly converting her to the dark side.

What if the person you’ve dated loves commercial music, everywhere you go you’ll hear songs they liked – for years

  19. ParticleCannon

But what if the next one listens to the radio too

  20. Im40ozToFreedom

But if you don’t like ~~plop~~ pop music and this partner did, you’d hear nothing but that on the radio.,

  27. sheepflip

    July 18, 2017 at 5:59 pm

So true, my ex listened to country music almost exclusively. If I never hear another “new” country song again that is totally ok.

One time a girl asked me to find a copy of jagged little pill by alanis morissette, making it the only cd she had besides modern gospel music. It ended quickly

This is actually a great life too. Especially if they like pop country…

Yeah, I tried that but twenty years later I’m still listening to Head Bangers Ball.

My gf listens to bluegrass, I listen mainly to dnb. This won’t be a problem.

  37. Scotchrogers

    July 18, 2017 at 5:59 pm

I had an ex that only listened to 2 albums the entire year and a half we were together. They were a best of Fleetwood Mac, which I later discovered was actually the worst, and that one 311 album with Amber on it. I hear all those songs everywhere now, and I think I hate them even more for it.

  38. skyy0731

  39. drknight

    July 18, 2017 at 5:59 pm

My ex was into Drake and Rihanna, Drake is fucking horrible, Rihanna I respect, but goddamn I hear that shit everywhere. Definitely avoid dating someone who listens to extremely popular music if you don’t want to be reminded every time you’re out, or even if you wanna watch movies/tv/YouTube.

  40. treqwe123

  43. Neker

    July 18, 2017 at 5:59 pm

but, uh, what I consider shitty music is precisely the music that plays everywhere, you don’t even notice it anymore, and suddenly, you can hear *it*, you can hear only *that*, that same old song again and again, and again. And again : please kill me now, I don’t want to here *that* once more !

  44. CarlaWasThePromQueen

    July 18, 2017 at 5:59 pm

Can confirm. I dated a guy in high school who had the exact same taste in music as me. I still can’t listen to most of my old, nostalgic favourites without cringing.

  48. XXX-XXX-XXX

    July 18, 2017 at 5:59 pm

I did. You end up liking the shitty music. Even years later. Mother mother songs get stuck in my head nearly 5 years after. I think its a weird form of nostalgia.

  49. grapplesinstereo

    July 18, 2017 at 5:59 pm

I dated a woman once whose favorite band was Hanson. I’m almost never reminded of her.

My girlfriend before her had outstanding taste in music, and I think about her at least a couple times a week. It’s almost always a song or band that makes me think of her.

My ex didn’t like some of the songs I listen to and always made a fuss when I played them but let me because I liked them, now I listen to those songs and think about that and remember her and tldr: shitty life pro tip is shitty

    July 18, 2017 at 5:59 pm

“So when you guys break up” so staying together in a committed relationship is no longer even an option? Seems like your assumption is the horrible life tip.
