I have to say: I never had children. It just wasn’t my path in life. But this makes me smile like a loon. I gotta go hug my Mom now!

This makes me sad. I had an on off again fling from HS. Over the next 6-7 years we would get together. The last time we did she just blew me off so I figured whatever. Three months later I get a call from a mutual friend saying she was pregnant.

Turns out she had cheated on her BF when we got together. I had no idea she was in a relationship. Anyhow she told him and he took off. So I get a call from her and she told me everything. I stepped up and was willing to pay for a DNA test to see if it was mine. For the next few months she continued to play me. I finally told her to do the test or don’t contact me again. She skipped town.

6 years later I get a call from the same friend telling me she wants to talk to me. After every road had ran out for her she comes back and wants a DNA test. I saw the pictures of that little girl instantly knew she was my kid.

So we met up, I told her I’ll take the test and will be there for this child if shes mine (I didn’t have a father growing up so this had always been very important to me), but I want no relationship with her. The test came back and I was indeed her dad.

Meeting her for the fist time was nerve racking. I could only imagine how much it was for my daughter. But we bonded instantly. She loved to play mine craft and so did I. I made a server we could play on together and she came up to me the first time we played and gave me a flower. As silly as it sounds that’s when I totally lost everything. I had missed so much of her life and a digital flower brought it all crashing down on me. I was in a teary mess.

Anyhow, seeing this mother touching her child’s face makes me think about how much I missed in my daughters life.

EDIT: She’s up late ending the summer vacation at her desk gaming with her best friend. She has no idea that I’m again in tears expressing how much I love her.

My 6 year old wasn’t sleeping too well tonight, probably weird dreams. I gave him head kisses, he woke up, sat up, laid back down. I covered him, gave him more head kisses, and he smiled just as big as that adorable baby did. He’s now sleeping peacefully. 💓

That’s all bullshit that babies don’t actually smile that young….it’s just a reaction….blah blah blah….
Then what the fuck is a smile?…you can’t help it when you’re happy….try fight it! It’d be a fake smile otherwise…

That baby has the most wholesome happiness inside itself it can’t help it. My 7 month old still smiles the exact same smile she did when she was a newborn. When she’s happy!

As a dad, it makes me really upset when people assume the reason why a child reacts a certain way.

The child might have reacted the exact same way if a stranger pet his/her face. I don’t know; I haven’t met the kid. But when people say that my daughter is crying because she wants her mom, I gladly pick her up and rock her and point out that they have no clue what my daughter wants.

There are many things you will never truly understand until you are a parent.

    This is one of them.

    Most will say “awww”…

some will remember the first time their heart melted and their life changed forever.

I have dozens of pictures of my boys grinning like this, all taken by me; their mama.
Daddy was (is) the BEST at loving them to sleep, especially before they turned one.
It’s not always solely Mom. And good thing, because we all need breaks.

This is bittersweet. That baby is so fucking happy it’s contagious. I wish we could all be able to experience this level of serenity throughout our entire short natural lives here.

    – “The child is born into a state of unity with all being. It is only when the child is taught about good and evil that he advances to a second level of individuation characterized by despair and alienation; for he has been made aware of laws and moral codes, but feels incapable of adhering to the arbitrary standards established by conventional religious or moral systems since they exclude so much of what seems perfectly natural.”
